We are cozily settled at K1, the name of the Malaria Research Project Guesthouse. Our first week and a half here have been good--the past four days here were a bit difficult because we had no water and electricity for most of the time. The water and electricity would randomly come on and then go off again.
Ryan and Katherine, our two housemates, are pleasant people. Ryan is an attending physician at Children's Memorial in Chicago. He is helping children with acute cerebral malaria and has been coming back to Malawi for the past four years. Katherine is recently out of undergrad and is doing data entry for one of the studies at the Malaria Action Center.
